Training

Shore Community Services offers Approved training by the Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS) for Social Service Organizations.  Individuals will receive certification as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) on our online training center.  Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) will receive on-site training and resources from our Certified Instructors.

Direct Support Professional

The DSP training will cover the following modules per the Illinois Department of Human Services.  Trainings are completed within 90 days or less.  There are a total of 120 hours to be completed (40 online, 80 on the job).

  1. Intro to Development Disabilities
  2. Human Rights
  3. Abuse, Neglect & Financial Exploitation
  4. Human Interaction and Communication
  5. Basic Health & Safety
  6. First Aid

Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional

The QIDP training will cover the following modules per the Illinois Department of Human Services.  Trainings are completed within 40 hours of classroom training.

  1. Intro to the World of the QIDP
  2. Leadership and Communication
  3. Behavioral Supports
  4. Person Centered Planning
  5. Record Keeping
  6. Advocacy, Rights, and Resources
  7. Environmental and Safety Supports
  8. Medical Supports
  9. Rules and Regulations

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

Cancellations made prior to the scheduled date will receive a refund. Course fees are not refundable for cancellations made 24 hours prior to training date. TAB Testing is administered as an option.
